Funding for this project was raised through grants, bequests and donations. A complete list of funding sources and donors can be found on our website.
Here are the projects that have been completed by far:
- Structural reinforcement of the roof rafters, joists, and beams
- Reinforcement of support beams under the original building
- Replacement of the windows in the "new" section of the building (circa 1972)
- Reshingling of the "new" section of the building (3/4 complete)
- Installation of piping for the fire suppression system (partially completed)
- Painting of window trim and piping (partially completed)
- Excavation in the crawl spaces under the old building to make way for the fire suppression system
- Replacement of an emergency exit stairway on the side of the building
- Completion and testing of fire suppression system, including painting and enclosing the piping in the main areas of the library. Piping that was recently installed in the Kittredge Room will be removed and relocated.
- Replacement of the boiler
- Replacement of the roof on the "new" section of the building
- Completion of shingling
- Grading and drainage work to alleviate leaking in the basement
- Masonry work to repair chimneys
- Renovations in our archival vault including improvements to the climate control system and installation of a non-water fire suppression system
- Driveway paving
- Repairs to the walkway
